YSL Full Metal Shadow #06 and Lancome Shine Lover #136

Summer is inevitable. Right? I am not giving up hope! Trying to enchant it, I resort to color abundance in my make up and clothes. The clothing-enchantment part was already featured here and here. Today I follow my previous summer-like beauty post with a new line of eyeshadows by YSL and another Shine Lover by Lancome.

YSL Full Metal Shadow #06 – Pink Cascade is a beige shade with pink shimmer. Although this line of eyeshadows was described as metallic, the one presented here can only demonstrate some frosty shimmer. I have to admit that this “failed promise” turned out to be quite a merit of this line: they are wearable on every occasion.

The packaging is really beautiful and typical of YSL liquid products: a transparent plastic container with a siver-colored top featuring the YSL logo. The upper part of the packaging – or the sponge-  is gold (no surprise here 🙂 ).

The sponge is similar to that of the kiss&blush line with the exception of the ball in the middle. It has the same length and width but is a little flatter. It is a little tricky to apply this eyeshadow evenly for the first time. The gel texture vanishes within seconds after application and the texture becomes powdery. The first time I applied it, it looked really patchy: in the final state after the application this eyeshadow is impossible to blend. However, as soon as you’ve got the speed on the shade looks perfect.

The brand promises 16h wearability. I haven’t tested it that long but can assure you that it stays intact for as long as 8 hours. Swatches of the eyeshadow: one stroke/ blended.

I have already posted a review on the new Shine Lover line by Lancome. I came to appreciate the texture and the quality of these lippies so much that I decided to buy another in my go-to orange-coral color.

The Shine Lover featured here is #136 Amuse-bouch. The texture of this lipstick reminds of that of a lipbalm and actually has very similar qualities. Despite the sheer touch, Shine Lover has a great color payoff.

Considering its balmy quality, the Shine Lover is not long-lasting. However, once the color is settled, you can refresh it even without a mirror by slightly stroking or tapping it onto the lower lip.

For this look I applied the Pink Cascade on the upper eyelid, the shade limit from Naked3 into the crease and the shade strange from the same palette under the eye brows and into the inner corners. I finished the eye make up with a brown liner by Artdeco and a bourgogne mascara by YSL. Lips: Shine Lover Amuse-bouche.

  1. Hey hey, what a pretty look! I’m glad to hear you figured the eyeshadow out. I am on the fence because Temptalia gave most of the shades a really bad rating, but if you think so highly of it I’ll at least swatch some of the shades! That lipstick tho 🙂

    1. Thank you, Sunny! you are too kind 😉 I really mean that this eyeshadow needs getting used to. In the beginning I was pretty desperate, but now I can do with it much better than with the creme eyeshadows by Chanel.
Those lippies are simply perfect! The best combi of care and color 🙂
